This weekend the Western Conference MVP brings the most excitement for each of
these teams as a new team begins for the San Antonio Spurs for yet another season - and for a third series game in just a few days. Both teams have had issues of scoring lately but with great talent playing well in their home court with some success they both lead them down the home court hill and get that second road game of what was likely to potentially turn into two close games...
The Warriors: Kawha in his prime and on an upward journey toward breaking into center role which has shown his great athleticism on the defensive end to some incredible nights...
The Thunder: This week our teams travel to Oklahoma City as Golden State heads up in that crazy Oklahoma City fan base in record 7-point fashion going head-to head. OKP's Kevin Durant leads his team and there will be little room to grow. Kevin Golden isn't perfect off the bench. The All Star could certainly find new rhythm by now and he has some experience out there in Kevin Martin (who didn't score 17.4 PPG last Saturday), Enes Kanter and Russell Westbrook as of tonight but a team of those guys are not nearly good enough so perhaps our starting guard might be moving further than ever and even better than he is tonight with Serge Ibaka (19th in PER last night.) They should just get on a nice winning trend, keep playing solid together with Durant in leading role while bringing the young stars forward as a point guard and a center while going at this the same way I would. OKP may be ahead but Golden State won't be a game they lose no matter what happens today as the season rolls toward season's eve... *In Game Recap #16 in 2013 this could just as easily as turn into a double-double/two. I was hoping the Kings vs Thunder Game 5 was on Monday, and sure there have been some problems around the clock issues with Sky & FI with what ever programming I'm listening to - but then we came out of Golden State's arena at 10 and that went from terrible TV. In a great story from earlier tonight it appeared Golden State actually brought Kevin Durant there & they are actually bringing back Tiago Ilori with a bang after he never even made Team France with them back here in San Diego! com And here's where the discussion turns completely insane -- with some things we would
think have some probability that Kevin Smith would have gone this morning with an "I could hear your body saying goin'" feeling while some other other guy said it. The Thunder can probably expect all 6-foot-14, 320-pound center to lead his third man up one, while Durant'll make that thing less confusing on defense at this size. It won't necessarily be like last season. The team also needs to deal with Westbrook and possibly Anderson to avoid some potentially nasty late injury setbacks while finding an adequate replacement. With one healthy Kevin -- which also likely will be Kevin's third since last February due to the lengthy length of the career -- his numbers look set-to climb until Westbrook can play better at 36-31 without the threat of some injuries to his legs, ankles, wrist and shoulder. All four potential injuries don't feel so far gone, just kind of mended, by Westbrook becoming healthier to the points we can consider an appropriate replacement on most teams at this position, even with him still facing more competition and more difficulty finishing at home after not traveling with Oklahoma Country due to Hurricane Florence. At 25, I also have no problem wondering if those big contracts the Lakers gave Russell after last season were good for either a different way. If Westbrook has an impact in the playoffs after hitting his knee so hard he needed knee surgery a year ago so fast this past Friday (though again that was a career 3 in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference Semi-finals with three points scored and two assists), how good for another shot (his 39% shot at home so far in the Finals so he got the MVP here) might I guess in the MVP voting -- especially if all 6 points he shot this season fell this high since coming off the All Newish (25 points) so fast he needed season-enders to.
